Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and Hypermobility

Hypermobility means your joints move beyond the typical range because your connective tissues are looser than usual. For some people, this comes with pain, instability and symptoms throughout the body, and may be diagnosed as hypermobility spectrum disorder (HSD) or hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS). Because connective tissue is found everywhere, these conditions call for a whole-body approach.

Common symptoms

  • Chronic joint and muscle pain
  • Frequent sprains, subluxations or dislocations
  • Neck, rib, back or pelvic pain
  • Headaches and jaw pain
  • Ongoing fatigue
  • Digestive problems
  • Dizziness when standing
  • Poor balance or body awareness
